Spider-Man: Miles Morales features the younger, hipper wallcrawler striking out on his own under the mentorship of Peter Parker, but he’s not quite alone. Apparently he has the help of a frankly adorable kitty-cat, who can even help him in battle. Watch out! Here comes a Spider-Cat.
The revelation comes from Game Informer footage as part of its cover story. In it, Miles saves the kitty in a backpack, and then goes web-swinging to deliver it back home. Then he dons a suit that includes a backpack, complete with the newly dubbed “Spider-Cat” in tow. The cat can even be seen assisting him in a finisher against the world’s most humiliated thug.
The kitty just hangs out in his backpack all the while, showing a level of calm and restraint that would not actually exist in any cat stuffed in a bag while you do aerobatic backflips. The mask makes him look distinctly like Spider-Cat, an actual character from Earth-999 in the Marvel comics multi-verse.
The cover story also gave more details on Fidelity Mode, which will run at 30 FPS with significant visual enhancements like ray tracing. Miles is the only playable character in this Spidey game, and it’s said to include some surprise villains.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is coming November 12, alongside the launch of the PlayStation 5. It’s coming to PS4 as well on the same day, and you can upgrade to the next-gen console version for free. For more details, check out our Spider-Man: Miles Morales preorder guide.
