NBA 2K21 is now showing unskippable advertisements in its loading screens. According to Stevivor, ads for the Oculus Quest 2 have started showing up in the game’s loading screens. According to the report, the ads are attached to a pre-game video that the game loads up automatically in any loading screen that is longer than the length of the video.
PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC are all suffering from these ads, which players are forced to watch, being able to press a button to continue only after the ad has run its full course. According to Stevivor, even a PC running on an SSD is facing the same problem.
EA faced similar criticisms earlier this year thanks to ads popping up in UFC 4. The company had since removed the ads after facing outcry from fans of the game, along with a statement.
