Europa will feature a dynamic weather system. The dynamic weather will make Europa feel like a hostile environment. The new zone will be home to intense snowstorms, which will affect the look and feel of Europa. The snowstorms will impact visibility, making it harder for players to navigate and attack enemies. Bungie has advised players to use a thermal scope, which may hint at new weapons that will come with Beyond Light. The developer has noted that the new weather system will not change the gameplay experience drastically.
Bungie has also rebuilt the character face customization system to make characters look more diverse. The studio will be working on more facial shapes that will be added in the future and the entire process is reviewed by Bungie’s Diversity Committee and Employee Resource Groups.
The studio has also said that players will need to redownload the entire game after Beyond Light launches. Bungie has overhauled its content building and patching pipeline to reduce the download size and make installs faster. As Destiny 2 is a huge game, it takes over 24 hours for the developer to get patches ready. The new update will bring it down to less than 12 hours. Since Bungie is vaulting a lot of content from Destiny 2, the game’s size will be reduced by 30% to 40%. The game’s size will be in the range of 59GB and 71GB depending on the platform.
